Museum Fossil Stone, Hollywood

Ancient Squid Fossil

We had the opportunity to restore a museum-quality, 345-395 million-years-old, cephalopod-nautili specimen from the Atlas Mountain Range, South Morocco.  During transportation from North Africa to a Los Angeles designer, the 150 lb. fossil-stone broke into more than 20 pieces.

The specimen broke into 20+ pieces during transport. Each piece was carefully matched together and reinforced during restoration.

PALEY utilized structural integrity specialists for expert artistry and repair on this fragile piece of history.

Certified historic and pre-historic preservation and restoration experts came together to restore this stone to its original glory.
